PROFILE:
1941, Naha-shi birth.
After the evacuation in the war, I am engaged in the revival of the Ryukyu textile in Miyazaki.
In 1966, I found the handwoven pongee dyeing and weaving studio of the intricate design. From sericulture of silkworm "small Ishimaru" of the Japanese indigen, I perform the making of textile using cloth with splashed pattern and the flower texture derived from natural dyeing, Ryukyus such as indigo dyeing or the shellfish purple dyeing by handwork consistently. I work on successor upbringing in order to convey a technique, philosophy appointed by "the contemporary master craftsman" of the country in history.
